Objectives
Fencing is nowadays as popular as it used to be in its early days. Fencing was contested during the first modern Olympics in 1896 and is one of the few sports to have been contested at every Olympic Games. The FADE (Argentine Fencing Foundation- AFF) can be regarded as an ambitious initiative, which is likely to introduce significant changes into the community, or as a humble social project that aims at changing individuals. We believe both goals can be attained. However, we would like to start by the humble vision, thus preserving idealism and then aspire to concrete the most ambitious goal. Education changes and transforms lives and through the creation of a fencing training hall we may transform individuals who, in turn, will also transform us. Helping children, adolescents and youngsters who want to achieve their full potential is a concrete and down-to-earth way to help ourselves, the sport and society as a whole.
Bearing these objectives in mind, the Fundación Argentina de Esgrima (Argentine Fencing Foundation) aims to raise funds to:
Stage I
Raising funds to:
- Meet fencers’ daily needs (life cost).
- Supply fencing equipment.
- Pay for fencers’ training.
- Pay for fencers’ physical training.
- Pay for entries to domestic and international competitions.
- Pay for trips and stays in the country or abroad.
- Position Argentina’s fencing as one of the top twenty worldwide.
- Train two fencers so that they may qualify for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
Ideal Scenario for Stage II
Once we have fulfilled Stage I:
That is to say, once the objectives mentioned hereinbelow have been already fulfilled:
- Fencers ranked on national and world ranking lists.
- Good results at international competitions.
- Consolidated institutional image.
- Contracts with sponsors signed.
- The “Foundation” as a reference point of fencing in Argentina.
- Fencers’ participation in the Foundation’s training halls.
It will be time to move on to Stage II:
- Having the Foundation’s project officially declared to be of national interest.
- Being granted a government subsidy (Social Action and Development Section).
- Entering into agreements with different schools or the Ministry of Education.
- Raising funds to open new halls where fencing may be taught. And getting a new facility not only where the Foundation will be sited but also which will host different national and international competitions.
