Fundares’ fencer MARÍA BELÉN PÉREZ MAURICE was historically qualified for next Olympic Games in London!

After a long tour, which she made guided by her coach Lucas Saucedo, Belén got little by little closer to the ranking she needed to classify. This last weekend, after the last competition in Moscow, Belén was officially announced as one of the first 8 contestants of the zone.

This is actually the first time an Argentinian fencer qualifies due to his/her F.I.E ranking position.

As members of this Foundation, as teammates, fencers, and specially as Argentinians we are incredibly proud to be represented by Belén. We would like to congratulate María Belén Pérez Maurice, Coach Lucas Saucedo, Physical Trainer Ricardo Ippolito, and to all who gave their support to make dreams like this come true!!

Our fencers Belen Perez Maurice and Felipe Saucedo,together with national coach Lucas Saucedo, arrived at the city of Guadalajara, Mexico, as part of the national delegation that will represent Argentina at the Pan American Games.

We wish all the success they deserve after such hard work!

SouthAmerican championship:

It took place in Santiago de Chile from september de 7th to 10th, and FUNDARES got the following results:
Belén Perez Maurice in sabre and Felipe Saucedo in foil were awarded the Gold Medals, being FUNDARES the club that provided more medals for Argentina in this competition.
Also, Ignacio Solari reached the 7th position and Martín Lora the 9th.

Belén defeats local Muhammad at Reno Panam, 2011.

The 2011 Senior PanAm took place in the city of Reno, Nevada (USA) between the 4th and 9th of july. On Monday the 4th, argentinian an FUNDARES representative María Belén Perez Maurice made her way to the bronze medal, after beating USA representative Ibtihaj Muhammad (15-14) in bout of 16, showing the high level she has earned during the training tour.
This result makes Argentina and FUNDARES fondly proud. Congratulations to all the team behind this triumph: Physical Trainer Ricardo Ippolito, Coach Lucas Saucedo and Maria Belén Perez Maurice.

The Southamerican Youth Championship took place between june the 12th and 18th, in the city of Sucre-Bolivia. Our Young fencer Salomé Schugurensky Pereira earned the silver medal in the team competition.

In the last weeks, argentinian representatives Belén Perez Maurice and Estefanía Berninsone participated of the fencing World Cups “Challenge Yves Brasseur” in Belgium and “Cole cupe” in Newcastle, England.

165 fencers participated of the “Challenge Yves Brasseur”. Belén reached the 53rd place and Berninsone 136th place.
In New Castle, Berninsone reached the 7th place and Belén once again made her way up to the 1st place, gold medal and Cup.
This way Belén keeps rising up in the international ranking.

As a preparation for the upcoming Fencing PanAm to be played the next july in Reno (Nevada), Belen Perez Maurice, representative of FUNDARES, started a training tour, together with teammate Estefanía Berninsone (GEBA) and National Coach Lucas Saucedo.
On june the 4th, both representatives participated of the World Cup of Reykjavik, Iceland. Belén got all the victories of her poule. Both argentinians met at semi-finals, being FUNDARES’ representative who made her way to the finals (15-5). The last match was against the local nº1, and after a strong bout, Belén got the 1st place, gold medal and cup.
This result gives her important points that move Belén up in the international Ranking.
The tour continues with the best expectations looking forward to NewCastle World Cup.

FUNDARES’ Foil Representative, Felipe Saucedo, participated of the first brazilian National Ranking, which took place at the Clube Militare of Río de Janeiro. Felipe was coached by National Coach Lucas Saucedo, and made his way to the first place after defeating brazilian Fernando Scavasin for 15-8.

As every year, FUNDARES disputed the X Cup. In 2010 the épée was the weapon to contest all rounds. Each team had 3 fencers of the Foundation, not necessarily épée fencers.

The winning team was the one of Belén P Maurice, Juan Molina Viggiola and Felipe Saucedo (two sabre and one foil)

In October 2010, fencers Felipe Saucedo, Belen Perez Maurice, Andrea Bendrich and Augusto Beruti flew to Madrid with National coach Lucas Saucedo. There they trained with the Spanish National Team to get in top condition for the World Championships which took place between 4 and 13 November in Paris, France.
We would like to remark that the Women’s Sabre Team of Argentina came close to beating Spain, but fell by 40 to 45.
