Fencer Belén Pérez Maurice won gold medal in the Iberoamerican Champion of Women’s Sabre, after overcoming Patricia Contreras (Venezuela) in the final match, with a score of 15-4. The competition took place in the city of Medellín, Colombia, in october 30 th, 2009.

National Youth Championship took place in Rosario city, in october the 21st, 2009, with the following results::

As well, Andrea Bendrich, of Women’s Sabre, and Augusto Beruti and Martín Lora of Men’s Sabre, achieved the Argentinian Championship of their category.

Absolute National Championship took place in the city of Buenos Aires, and FUNDARES has cachieved the following results.
Women’s Sabre
Belén Pérez Maurice won the championship for third year in a row, after winning by default the final match against Attar Cohen, scoring 14-7. Congratulations!!!
Andrea Bendrich achieved the bronce medal, Congratulations Andrea!!!
Men’s Sabre
Ignacio Solari reached the third position after defeat in semi-finals against Perez Ghersi, with a tight 15-14. Congratulations Ignacio!!!!

This year’s 1st engagement of the Argentine Junior Championship will take place in San Rafael, Mendoza. This event enables competiors to clasify for the Southamerican Championship to be held in Chile next May.
The Argentine Fencing Foundation’s team is led by Dr Nicolas Alitisz and Head Coach Rodrigo Alvarez. Travelling along with them are Andrea Bendrich (current Argentine Champion), Martin Lora and Augusto Beruti. We wish you all the very best!
Having won 3 and lost 3 Belen advanced to the next round where she lost to the current Olympic Team Champion, the Ukranian Olga Zhovnir by 8-15.
This result left Belen positioned at number 86 over 120 participants.
Since February 6th Belen P. Maurice and her Master Lucas Saucedo, have traveled to Europe on a training and competition tour.
This tour was sponsored by the Argentine Fencing Foundation, the Argentine Sports Secretary and the Argentine Fencing Federation
Andrea Bendrich became National Champion and Argentine Champion after finishing the season undefeated in the Womens Junior Sabre category.
The final asalt was against a pier from Cordoba and the final score was 15-3.
The XXIII South American Adults Fencing Championship was held in the city of
Buenos Aires. The results were as follows:
Belen Perez Maurice won the Silver Medal, Milagros Pituello won the Bronze Medal after a 15 to 11 final score over the Colombian representative. Reaults for the Teams category our representatives
obtained the Gold Medal defeating the Colombian team by 45 to 22.

The IV Ibero American Fencing Championship was held last weekend in the city of
Buenos Aires. The results were as follows:
Belen Perez Maurice won the Gold
Medal after defeating the Spanish representative Sandra Marcos in semi-finals
by 15-10 and the Colombian Nancy Vargas by 15-13 in the final assault.This is a
milestone since it is the first time a Argentinian representative wins such a
medal in the category Womens Sabre.

With 130 points Belen Perez Maurice became the Argentine Champion without losing a single assault and for the second year in a row, besides also becoming the National Champion.
Erik managed to make it into the National Team as did Milagros Pituello & Felipe Saucedo. They will all represent our Country at the next South American & Iberoamerican Championships.

Interview with Belen in Beihin TV show
Fencers Belen Perez Maurice and Milagros Pituello along with Master Lucas Saucedo initiated a international training and competition tour around several european cities.
On the 8th of February they both participated of a grand Prix in Orleans, France; a very important competition that granted points to qualify for Beijin 2008 Olympic Games. Belen achieved 3 victories (against USA, Poland and Japan); Milagros achieved 2 (against South Africa and Spain). These results placed Belen and Milagros number 72 and 103 respectively among 140 contestants in Orleans. Congratulations!
The tour takes us to Budapest, Hungary on the 23rd and 24th of February. We will work hard to make the most out of this next challenge.
